Another week, another fascinating bit of release news from Z2 Comics, dominating the music comics arena – this week, it’s Vince Staples Presents: Limbo Beach.
With artists as diverse as Blondie, Gorillaz, Machine Gun Kelly, Chuck D, Cypress Hill, The Grateful Dead, and The Doors, Z2 Comics really is doing a great thing in bringing graphic music biographies and projects by major musicians to the comics world.
Now, more of the same, as they announce a new graphic novel by Bryan Edward Hill (Batman & the Outsiders, Titans), Chris Robinson (Children of the Atom), and Buster Moody (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), all from an original concept by rapper, singer, and songwriter Vince Staples.
Every kid has the same story. Wash up on shore. Enter the amusement park. Get superpowers. Why are you so different?
The mysterious Limbo Beach is an island theme park ruled by adolescents with unique abilities, where we get to explore with the newest member of the Wunderlosts, a band of misfit teenage raiders, on a journey to discover the truth about the park—and himself—in a tale that is equal parts Lord of the Flies and The Warriors.
Limbo Beach is the story of lost children fighting to regain their stolen youth. It takes place in a world similar to the one that we all live in, where we are shaped by our experiences and those around us. I appreciate the opportunity to create these stories in a way that I never have before. Hopefully, it is the first of many.
Vince Staples Presents: Limbo Beach is released from Z2 Comics this fall and is available to pre-order now in both a standard softcover and hardcover formats, as well as slipcase, deluxe and super deluxe editions featuring exclusive items in one time limited editions.
