If you thought you knew everything about the Fabulous Killjoys, you’d be wrong. Dark Horse Comics has announced a new six-issue mini-series set in this dystopian world from writers Gerard Way and Shaun Simon, artist Leonardo Romero, colorist Jordie Bellaire, and letterer Nate Piekos. The team takes us all the way back to the original story that inspired My Chemical Romance’s concept album, Danger Days in The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem.
The comic follows a group of teenage exterminators determined to save reality that have lost their way and their memories. After spending some time in mental confinement, the former Killjoys leader Mike Milligram gets de-programmed. He hits the road to bring the gang back together for a final showdown against an evil pharmaceutical corporation, their monstrous hitman, and savage gang rivals.
The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem #1 features a standard cover by Leonardo Romero and variant covers by Becky Cloonan and Paul Rentier. It’s an over-sized issue, clocking in at 44 story pages and priced for $3.99. It’s set for release on October 14th, 2020 and is currently available for pre-order.
