The forces of Leviathan may still be getting ready to take control of the world, but Kara (Melissa Benoist) will have to confront a good old enemy of the week. And as this preview of the episode indicates, special guest Mitch Pileggi will have enough power to force Supergirl into fighting on her home turf — the Fortress of Solitude to be exact. But as it happens, Pileggi’s status a villain of the week may not be as clear as this preview suggests.
Meanwhile, it is nice to get some context on Andrea Rojas (Julie Gonzalo), even if it is completely at odds with the character as introduced in the season premiere. Also, it is interesting to see the reach of Leviathan fleshed out a bit. If their name is on an ancient medallion, it means they are essential immortal and, no doubt, alien.
And now that Lena (Katie McGrath) knows about them, it is only a matter of time before they retaliate or she adds them to her plan. Considering how the entire season has been about systems of control — the media, the AR contacts, Malefic’s powers — it will be interesting to see which one wins out. We’re better on Lena just because she’s a Luthor. But maybe the true scope of Leviathan’s scheme will bring her back to the side of light.
Supergirl airs Sundays on The CW.
