So it serves me right for starting the panel late, but usually with Comic Con@Home, you can watch the panels anytime once they’ve dropped on YouTube. Thankfully, it’s up again as you’re reading this. As part of the virtual con’s Friday content, Starz presented a look at their upcoming series, Heels. Joe Otterson (Variety), acted as moderator for the panel, which featured all of the main cast members, showrunner Mike O’Malley, and series creator Michael Waldron.
Heels is an eight-episode series that starts August 15th on Starz. It stars Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Alexander Ludwig (Vikings) as brothers who wrestle professionally in a minor regional circuit. The show sounds a lot like Audience’s Kingdom, except for wrestling instead of MMA fighting. Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight), who wasn’t a fan of wrestling before the series, compared the show to Friday Night Lights — in that you don’t need to watch wrestling to enjoy it.
Otterson’s questions were good, and the show itself looks very promising, even if I missed part of the event. Allen Maldonado (Blackish) and former NFL player, James Harrison, provide some friendly ribbing. Amell also dodged some of the questions. That said, the new footage shown at the beginning really doesn’t eclipse the trailer.
Heels premieres Sunday, August 15th at 9 PM ET on Starz.
